Join us for a relaxing bird walk at Bird Island in Ponte Vedra behind the Ponte Vedra Branch Library as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC).
This park is a neighborhood project that recreates several birding landscapes in a compact area that has both a boardwalk and a treed park.
Migratory birds such as robins, eastern bluebirds and cedar waxwings visit the park in the winter months and the there is a rookery in the middle of the pond that hosts water birds.
It is an easy walk and wheelchair accessible. It is also perfect for families with young children, especially if they like turtles.
We will plan to meet at the parking lot that is designated for the park so drive past the library parking around to the other side of the building at 8:30 AM.
We will be using eBird to record the birds we see and everyone can help the leaders in the count process.
After our walk those interested can walk or ride to the next door plaza for coffee at Duncan Donuts.
