  • When: Wednesday, July 8, 2026,  5:30 pm
  • Location: 20 Aviles Street, Saint Augustine, FL 32084
  • Cost: Free

On July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud in public.

On July 8, 2026 at 5:30 PM, you’re invited to mark this historic moment at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum.

In partnership with the Daughters of the American Revolution Maria Jefferson Chapter and the Sons of the American Revolution St. Augustine Chapter, this event is part of a nationwide simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence. Local community leaders will read selected portions as voices across the country join together.
Held in downtown St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, there is no more fitting place to reflect on the founding of the United States.

This event is free and open to the public. No reservations required.
