Roots in Resistance: A History of Black Florida
This program examines the struggles of Black Floridians from slavery through Jim Crow, segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement, highlighting how systemic racism shaped daily life and opportunities across the state. It also explores Florida’s pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement, including grassroots activism and the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s involvement in St. Augustine, which helped bring national attention to the fight for equality and lasting social change.
All programs are free and open to the public. Join us at the Palm Coast Library this February as we learn, reflect, and celebrate Black history together.
