Join the Florida Naturalist Experience Institute of Natural Conservation (FNE INC) for a special coastal edition of our signature outdoor experience at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida.
Set within one of Northeast Florida’s most extraordinary and rare coastal hardwood hammock ecosystems, this immersive event offers a unique opportunity to explore a landscape that has largely disappeared from Florida’s coastlines. Anastasia State Park protects more than 1,600 acres of pristine beaches, tidal marshes, dunes, and maritime hammock, where ancient live oaks, cabbage palms, and dense understory plants create a cool, shaded refuge just steps from the Atlantic Ocean. These hammocks are among the most biologically diverse coastal habitats in the state and provide critical shelter for migratory birds, native wildlife, and resilient plant communities shaped by wind, salt, and sea.
Led by our Certified Florida Master Naturalists, guests will enjoy a guided interpretive walk through this remarkable environment, learning how coastal hammocks form, why they are so rare, and the vital role protected lands like Anastasia State Park play in Florida’s long-term conservation efforts.
Following the hike, guests will gather for a chef-prepared, three-course seafood feast, thoughtfully designed to celebrate Florida’s coastal flavors. Prepared fresh on-site, this elevated dining experience transforms the afternoon into a memorable blend of education, community, and cuisine—surrounded by one of the state’s most beautiful natural settings.
Whether you come for the learning, the food, or the chance to slow down and connect with nature, this experience offers a meaningful way to engage with Florida’s wild coast.
