The City of St. Augustine is set to welcome the Nao Trinidad to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina as part of the 2024 celebration of the relationship between St. Augustine and Avilés, Spain.
The Trinidad is a 150-ton, 93-foot replica of the flagship of the Magellan-Elcano Expedition that led to the first circumnavigation of the Earth, confirming for the first time that the Earth is round. The ship boasts three masts and a bowsprit and is built of African hardwood and pinewood.

While in port, this floating museum will be open for guided and self-guided tours, including the ship's four decks, complete with information panels relating the history of the ship and the experience of Spanish sailors over 500 years ago. The Trinidad was previously outfitted as a replica of Christopher Columbus' Santa Maria, but it has been renamed and now includes the Magellan-related exhibits.

It is a replica of the ship of the captain of the so-called Armada del Maluco (1519-1522) commanded by Ferdinand Magellan. An expedition of five ships, only one of which was the protagonist of the greatest maritime adventure in history: the first race around the world. This replica is a magnificent full-size ship of 200 tons, 29 m. long and 8 m. wide, four masts, five sails and five decks, built with exquisite workmanship in iroko and pine wood by the hands of master carpenters of the shore. A ship that sails like a floating museum of Spanish maritime heritage and has already visited dozens of ports in Spain, Mexico, the United States and Europe.
