St. Johns County Public Library System 2025 Summer Reading Program Begins June 1
This year’s theme is “Color Our World” with 100+ engaging events and activities for all ages.
The St. Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) announced the launch of the “Color Our World” 2025 Summer Reading Program, which will run from June 1 to August 2. The Program features over 100 educational events throughout the nine weeks and regularly scheduled story times, book clubs, and STEAM activities.
Everyone is invited to join SJCPLS for educational and family-friendly summer fun. Participants can pick up free reading logs at any SJCPLS branch or bookmobile stop. Track your summer readings to earn prizes for every five days of reading. Highlights include:
Color-themed family fun with games, scavenger hunts, story times, and more
Movie matinees the whole family can enjoy
Live animal encounters and nature programs presented by Marineland and Wild Wonders
Nature Detective workshops hosted by the Garden Club of St. Augustine
Magic shows with Magician Mark Alan
Creative activities, including arts, crafts, trivia, and much more
As a community partner, SJCPLS serves to inspire families to read and learn together during the summer break. “As librarians, we understand that children who don’t read over summer break fall behind. It’s called the ‘summer slide,’” said Library System Director Debra Rhodes Gibson. “Our Summer Reading Program offers incentives to keep kids engaged and their reading skills strong heading into the new school year.”
