Art 100: Foundations in Fine Art
Art 200: Developing Technique & Creative Voice
August–May | Weekly Class
Art 100 is the perfect introduction to classical art training for young artists. In this foundational two-semester series, students will explore the core elements of drawing, watercolor painting, and clay hand-building. Emphasizing observational skills, hand-eye coordination, experimentation, and confidence in creative expression, students will learn fundamental artistic techniques. This course lays the groundwork for future growth and is a prerequisite for Art 200.
Art 200 continues the artistic journey with a deeper dive into observational and expressive drawing, watercolor layering techniques, introduction to acrylic painting, and refined clay construction. Students will begin to learn the artistic process from ideation to execution, and develop their unique artistic voice through more complex projects. Lessons build on intermediate techniques, encourage creative risk-taking, and introduce foundational art theory to help students make more intentional artistic choices. Completion of Art 200 is required before moving on to Art 300.
