Clay County Parks and Recreation: Camp Chowenwaw Park

Camp Chowenwaw is a beautiful 150-acre park along Black Creek in Green Cove Springs, near the St. Johns River.

The park offers: Camping, Event and Meeting Spaces, Hiking Trails and Fishing, Kayaking, Paddleboard Rentals, Volleyball Court, Picnic Areas, Seasonal Swimming Pool, Museum, Nature Center and Playground.

Clay County purchased the camp in 2006 from the Girl Scouts of the Gateway Council, with help from Florida Communities Trust and Florida Forever funds.

The county now manages the park to protect its natural beauty and history while providing fun outdoor activities.
