A protected bird sanctuary consisting of 1,700 acres of and five miles of sandy beaches, Anastasia State Park is a gem of an area for wildlife enthusiasts. Located on Anastasia Island, this area offers many services and activities including swimming, hiking, nature trails, a boat ramp, fishing, and camping. Lifeguards are on duty for this area.
The wildlife loves Anastasia State Park as much as the people do. There are abundant wading birds hunting for food along Salt Run, including colorful roseate spoonbills. Osprey and eagles rule the skies and painted buntings and warblers often flit about the hammock forests.
Visitors can observe the wildlife along the beach, from a canoe or kayak, or on the Ancient Dunes Nature Trail.
As an added extra, the park’s 139 campsites are just a short stroll from the beach.
