This popular jazz camp is uniquely tailored to introduce, inspire, and advance the varied experiences, knowledge, and skill sets of vocalists and instrumentalists in the performance of Jazz, the original American musical artform. Campers enjoy informative sessions in jazz improvisation, jazz history, theory fundamentals, stylistic interpretation, repertoire, solo and ensemble musicianship, and more, working with highly regarded jazz artists and educators, experienced in middle school to collegiate and pro level mentoring. There will be an emphasis on developing and improving improvisation skills. The week culminates with a Camper/Faculty Showcase Concert, free to the community, including combos, vocalists, and big bands. Fun, challenging, and rewarding, students prep for Fall back-to-school music programs, teachers learn great techniques for teaching jazz, and musicians, novice to pro, take their skills to the next level!
New this year, our co-sponsors will be on site on Thursday, July 23 from 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm and after the concert to provide opportunities for campers to explore their merchandise.
