LOCATION:6670 US 1 South, Saint Augustine, FL 32086
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:As part of our slate of St. Johns Reads events all related to the book An i
mmense world : how animals sense Earth's amazing secrets, by Ed Yong, today
we are showing three animal-focused films. Refreshments will be provided
by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.\n\n-Winged Migration 10
:30am\n\nThis documentary was shot over the course of three years on all se
ven continents, and follows the migratory patterns of all sorts birds. Som
e shots were filmed by cameras actually attached to the birds. Rated G. \n\
n-Kedi 12:30pm \n\nThis film follows the lives of 7 cats in the ancient
city of Istanbul. The film tells the story of how the residents relate to
and care for these mysterious creatures who are truly part of local societ
 y. Not rated. \n\n-Because of Winn Dixie 2:30pm\n\nBased upon the book
by Florida author Kate DiCamillo, this film tells the story of a mischievo
us dog befriends a lonely young girl in a new town and helps her make new f
riends. Rated PG. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to announce that our book selecti
on for St. Johns Reads 2026 is "An Immense World" by Ed Yong! \n\nIn An Imm
ense World, Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer Ed Yong takes us beyond t
he limits of human perception to explore how animals experience the world t
hrough senses both familiar and strange, from echolocation and ultraviolet
vision to magnetic and electric fields. With vivid storytelling and infecti
ous curiosity, Yong reveals that our reality is just a narrow slice of a mu
ch larger, richer sensory world teeming all around us.\n\nAn Immense World
is available in both Adult and Young Adult editions in print, as well as in
e-book and e-audiobook formats on Libby.\n\nIn its 22nd year, St. Johns Re
ads is the St. Johns County Public Library System's annual "One Book, One C
ommunity" event focused on creating a shared conversation on a selected nov
el. St. Johns Reads is proudly supported by the Friends of the Library grou
ps. We can't wait for January 2026, when we'll all come together for this s
 pecial community event!
