SUMMARY:Historic Florida Militia Inc: 250th Anniversary of the United States Army Celebration

 , as the Historic Florida Militia is honored to present a special free even
 t with fun for the whole community!\n\nThe celebration will begin at the Ol
 dest House Museum Complex (located at 14 St. Francis Street) reenactors fro
 m around the state will have a military style encampment.  This encampment 
 will included multiple time periods of US Army history.  There you will see
  a 1565 militia group in honor of the First Muster, recognized as the begin
 ning of the Florida National Guard.   A 1775 Continental Soldiers Color Gua
 rd will present replicas of the first US Army Flags.   There will be a cont
 inental militia waiting to take the oath to join the army.  1821 soldiers r
 epresenting the Florida territorial period will be on hand along with their
  pre-Civil War counterparts.  WWI soldiers and more will all be represented
 .  \n\nMilitary tents will be erected and displays for public viewing, incl
 uding black powder demonstrations, will all be there.  (A preview of this e
 vent will take place at this location on Friday June 13th.) \n\n\nAt 12 noo
 n on Saturday the reenactors will head to the Governors House Museum for a 
 special commemoration.  A short ceremony will take place from the red, whit
 e and blue adorned balcony followed by more musket firing.  Visitors will b
 e encouraged to mingle with the reenactors for a once in a lifetime grand p
 hoto opportunity.  Then its a march north on St. George Street with a stop 
 at the Castillo de San Marcos.  Once again our reenactors will be on hand t
 o greet the public on the South Lawn of the Fort.   Though some of these un
 its historically would not have been stationed at the Castillo, on this spe
 cial day these units will be on hand to make for a spectacular photo op.  \
 n\nThis will be followed by another quick stop at the Colonial Quarter Muse
 um (located at 21 St. George Street) for more visitor interaction and photo
 s.  Finally its back to the Oldest House Museum to finish out the day.   \n
 \nThe best part all of this will be free and open to the public!  \n\nThere
  will be free entry into the Oldest House Museum Complex on Saturday starti
 ng at 10 am.  Events taking place at the Governors House Courtyard and the 
 south lawn of the Castillo will be open to the public.  There will also be 
 free entry to the Colonial Quarter Museum.  \n\nJoin us and spend the day w
 atching history come to life in Saint Augustine!
