St. Johns River State College: Trash Bash Beach Cleanup

Project: New Year's Trash Bash Beach Cleanup - In collaboration with St. Johns River State College's "Viking Spring into Service Day," the St. Johns County Solid Waste Division is thrilled to organize a New Year's Beach Cleanup! The Division's dedicated staff, including Captain Reducio and the Public Affairs team, will lead cleanup efforts along with SJR State student athletes and a group of beach-loving employees. Please join us this event it open to the public.

Volunteers can select from 7 locations to checkin and clean the beach!

SITE 1 - Micklers Landing CR 203, Ponte Vedra Beach. Location Site Captain: Christina Will, St. Johns River State College

SITE 2 – GTM NERR South Beach, 2200 South Ponte Vedra Blvd, Ponte Vedra Beach. Location Site Captain: Michell Klimt

SITE 3 – North Beach Park, 3721 Coastal Hwy, St. Augustine. Location Site Captains: Kelly Ussia and Ashley Raybould, SJR Parks & Rec/Growth Management

SITE 4 – Vilano Beach, Vilano Rd, St. Augustine. Site Captains: Ginger Baker and Sam Baker, Keep SJC Beautiful/Sol Margin

SITE 5 – St. Augustine Beach Pier, St. Augustine Beach. Location Site Captain: Tom Large, City of St. Augustine Beach

SITE 6 – Crescent Beach, Cubbedge Rd, St. Augustine. Location Site Captain: Jen Lomberk, Matanzas Riverkeeper

SITE 7 – Ft. Matanzas Beach, Ft. Matanzas Beach Ramp Rd, St. Augustine. Location Site Captain: Kurt Foote, National Park Service

Volunteers needed: 50 minimum, 500 maximum

Skills/abilities required of volunteers: Walking in soft sand, standing, bending over, carrying less than 50lbs, and being outside in the elements. Cleanup supplies will be provided. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and reusable water bottle. Children must be supervised by an adult or guardian at all times. Volunteers must sign-in at the location on the day of the event and sign the Hold Harmless agreement (copies will be provided at the event).

A table will be set up at each location for volunteers to sign-in and get supplies. Signs will be posted directing volunteers to the location.
